Funny birds ! In preview in Matter of material

We were really intrigued by this ludic taxidermy technique…Maarten Kolk & Guus Kusters Studio, comprises of two dutch designers who remodel the shape of the each bird (whilst keeping their original skeleton) with synthetic and natural materials by wrapping them up with a thin outside layer of textile as means of reflecting the real character of the specie. We were surprised but in awe of this beautiful and dynamic swap between creation, technique and material, a concept that is dear to Thomas Eyck. Nice idea to give a second life for these herons, gulls and other volatiles… dressed in these pretty coats!!

You will find this collection in avant premiere at the start of December at Matter of Material, in Amsterdam’s Kerkstraat.
