We were intrigued by these floating neon blue lights in Eindhoven during the Design Week, but far away from our target, we still remained! The works by Pieke Bergman are mostly aimed on collections and museums but they also collaborate with certain companies that share the same concept: “Rosenthal”, “Like Boys” and “Vitra”. We couldn’t refrain from presenting PHENOMENON, a series of neon blue in different unexpected sizes and shapes that lay the question: “Why does neon always comme in the standard shape of tubes ?”
Bergmans is currently displaing her works at the Stedelijk Museum, “DREAM OUT LOUD”, from the 25th of August until the first of January 2017 and upcomingly in Belgium at Hornu.
It definitely is worth checking out !
After having walked along Harlemerstraat and past all it’s trendy design boutiques time after time… I gave myself a savory treat…“Petit Gateau” (“Small Cake”) is a very pretty boutique tended by a charming French couple, whose small tarts are absolutely lush! A 20 or so scents ranging from green lemon to passion fruit, vuzu, caramel, raspberries… All senses are awoken, the small, the view, the taste… Pure pleasure! And of course a Dutch style decoration: thick wooden tables, used granny chairs, vintage lighting hung to a floating wooden branch without forgetting the amazing bouquet of flowers that only the Dutch can do. Beautiful and good!
A small parenthesis on one of our favourites that we wish to share with you as we could not resist strolling through this design district between Saint Germain and Sèvres Babylone. We fell for this amazing space animated with unique pieces where lights accompany mirrors, furniture and drawn carpets made by Nathalie Du Pasquier, and yes of course it’s at “Asteri’s” !
